A 37-year-old security guard was killed in a hit-and-run accident on National Highway-44 near the Raja Rajeshwari Temple within the limits of Petbasheerabad police station on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Domakonda Chinna Sailu, a resident of Kompally. The complaint was lodged by his wife, Domakonda Anuradha.

According to the police, Chinna Sailu had completed his shift at a Reliance warehouse in Devarayanjal and was returning home on his motorcycle at around 10 p.m. on July 2. At about 10.30 p.m., while taking a left turn near the Raja Rajeshwari Temple on NH-44, an unidentified vehicle, driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner, collided with his motorcycle.

He sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. The vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene, police said.

Based on the complaint, Petbasheerabad police booked a case and launched an investigation.

Police said efforts are underway to identify the vehicle and its driver by examining CCTV footage, technical evidence and other leads.

The Petbasheerabad police have appealed to the public to come forward with any information that could help identify the vehicle or the driver involved in the accident.
