Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and yoga guru Baba Ramdev inspired people to make yoga a part of their daily lives by performing a few ‘asanas’ themselves on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga (IDY), at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) Stadium in Vijayawada in the early hours of June 21 (Sunday).
Union Ministers Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma and State Ministers Nara Lokesh, Y. Satya Kumar, Kinjarapu Atchannaidu and Kandula Durgesh, and a host of other elected representatives and senior government officials joined hundreds of enthusiastic people, including young yoga practitioners from the Patanjali Gurukulam in Haridwar, in performing ‘asanas’ under the Yogandhra banner.

The stadium was filled with students and youth, reflecting the growing popularity of yoga in the State. The Chief Minister participated in the event wearing a shirt with the Yogandhra logo.
Under the personal guidance of Mr. Ramdev, the Chief Minister first performed ‘pranayama’ and then did ‘Anulom Vilom Pranayama’ and other ‘asanas’.
The playing of Venkateswara Suprabhatam and Govinda Namalu added a touch of divinity to the session.
