CCB cracks down on rowdies, job fraud accused in separate operations

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested two rowdy-sheeters, apprehended a long-absconding offender wanted in multiple criminal cases, and arrested a father-daughter duo accused of cheating job seekers of over ₹5.3 crore in separate operations across Bengaluru.

Two rowdy-sheeters arrested

Acting on intelligence that several rowdy elements were allegedly stockpiling deadly weapons to commit crimes, officers of the CCB’s Organised Crime Wing (East) conducted surprise raids on the residences of more than 10 rowdy-sheeters on June 7.

During the operation, the police arrested two absconding rowdy-sheeters identified as Puneeth S.V. and Shivakumar alias Auto Shiva, who were wanted in a case registered under the Arms Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Varthur Police Station. The accused have been handed over to the Varthur police for further legal action. No weapons were recovered during the raids.

Absconding rowdy-sheeter

In another operation, the CCB arrested Shahid Pasha alias Dakkar Shahid Bin Late Noor Khan, a rowdy-sheeter from K.G. Halli Police Station limits, who had allegedly been evading court proceedings and arrest warrants for nearly eight years.

Based on a tip-off received on June 5, CCB officers traced the accused to Vinobanagar and apprehended him. The police said Shahid is involved in more than 20 criminal cases registered across Bengaluru.

He had reportedly failed to appear before courts in at least three cases, leading to the issuance of proclamation and warrant orders. He was subsequently handed over to the K.G. Halli Police Station for further proceedings.

Father-daughter duo

The CCB also arrested a woman and her father for allegedly cheating more than 40 job aspirants by falsely promising government jobs in various Union and State government departments.

According to a complaint registered on November 17, 2025, the accused allegedly claimed to have close contact with senior government officials and political leaders, and assured employment in departments such as Railways, Income Tax, Health, Social Welfare and other government agencies.

Investigators said the duo collected more than ₹5.30 crore from job seekers, mostly from North Karnataka, and issued fake appointment letters. They allegedly set up bogus training centres in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Kolkata and even paid stipends for four months to make the scheme appear genuine.

The accused were arrested on June 4. Efforts are under way to trace and recover the money and identify additional victims, the police said.
