Annamayya District Collector Nishant Kumar on Thursday directed officials of the Education Department to strengthen efforts towards improving academic standards, increasing student enrolment, and raising pass percentages across the district.
Reviewing the performance of schools and Intermediate education, Samagra Siksha Abhiyan and Skill Development wings, the Collector said that the district was currently ranked sixth in the State under the “Badi Pilustondi” enrolment programme and asked officials to aim for better rankings in the coming months.
Expressing concern over low enrolment in Rayachoti, Piler, Madanapalle, Valmikipuram, Galiveedu, and Punganur mandals, the Collector directed the District Educational Officer to take action against the concerned officials. He further gave instructions to the officials to improve admissions in 89 model primary schools, where student strength remained below 60%.
Reviewing the Class X results, Mr. Nishant Kumar observed that many students had failed in Science and Telugu subjects and ordered remedial classes. Officials were also instructed to strengthen foundational literacy programmes, improve Intermediate results, and submit reports on candidates trained and employed through skill development initiatives.
The Collector informed the officials to complete pending infrastructure works under the “Mana Badi Mana Bhavishyathu” programme promptly.
