The Kerala High Court on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) sought a report from the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Palakkad, about an incident in which three siblings approached the Palakkad District Collector seeking assistance to end the deteriorating marital relationship of their parents.
A Bench of Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan sought the report, following media reports about the incident. The court observed that children cannot be used as pawns.
The siblings — two sisters aged 12 years and 10 years, and their eight year old younger brother — had approached the Collector to end the strife between their parents. Their mother reportedly wanted to live with them separately after her return from abroad, while their father reportedly was addicted to liquor.
The siblings wanted both their mother and father to live together with them.
The children had earlier approached the child welfare committee, citing that they were emotionally exhausted due to the feud between their parents and police cases.
