Congress leader Pawan Khera approached the Gauhati High Court on Monday (April 20, 2026), seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a criminal case registered against him by the Assam police’s Crime Branch in Guwahati.
The case is based on an FIR lodged by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, after Mr. Khera claimed that she possessed passports of three countries, owned luxury properties in Dubai, and had significant investments in Wyoming, the United States.
