Sri Adrishya Kadasiddeshwar Swami of Kanheri Mutt, Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, has warned people to be wary about people who are trying to destroy Hindu religion by wearing the mask of Basavanna.
He was addressing several thousands gathered at the Government School Grounds in Shahapur of Yadgir district on Monday after inaugurating Basavadi Shivasharanara Hindu Samavesh.
The programme was organised by Kumbar Oni Hiremath Sugureshwar Shivacharya Swami.

The Kanheri Swami said that some infiltrators of Basava Dharma are trying to destroy Hindu religion by unnecessarily criticising Hindu gods and goddesses. People should understand their hidden agenda and face it unitedly.
“Basavanna never insulted another religion. But these infiltrators are using the name of Basavanna to defame Hindu gods and religion for their livelihood. It became inevitable to organise the Basavadi Shivasharanara Hindu Samavesh to unmask such people,” he said and appealed to people to follow principles such as Kayaka and Dasoha introduced by Basavanna to become a real Basava follower.
Calling himself a vegetable grower, the swami appealed to the gathering to take up cattle farming and use cow dung as organic fertiliser for their fields to get good yields.

The swami has been a vocal figure in recent socio-religious discussions within the State. His recent statement about Lingayat Swamijis drew sharp criticism and led to widespread protests resulting in a ban on his entry to Vijayapura district.
Sugureshwar Swami said that some hired henchmen shouted and unnecessarily tried to create confusion among people in the city recently. “They even tried to prevent us from organising the event. But they failed to prevent people from participating in the event,” he added.
Earlier, a mammoth procession was organised from the Guggula Basaveshwar Temple to the venue, crossing Gandhi Chowk, Haralayya Chowk, Basaveshwar Circle and the old bus stand.
Hundreds of women accompanied the procession with a traditional Shobha Yatra, while cultural events, including Dollu Kunita, attracted people.
Seers of various mutts, leaders from all political parties and people from various parts of neighbouring places participated.
