Singer Nick Jonas on Sunday shared a photograph from the night he proposed to Priyanka Chopra, revisiting a personal moment from their relationship. The Varanasiactor reshared the post on Instagram and replied with a short note of her own.
The post came soon after glimpses from Priyanka’s birthday break in Spain were shared online.
In his Instagram Story post on July 19, Nick wrote, “8 years ago she said yes.” The picture showed the 44-year-old smiling and showing her engagement ring soon after the proposal. She later reshared it and wrote, “So grateful you asked”
The post brought back the couple’s trip to Greece in 2018, where the 33-year-old proposed to Priyanka. He recently spoke about that night on an episode of Hey Jonas and said a delayed flight nearly disrupted his plan.
Nick said he had wanted to propose at midnight, just after Priyanka’s birthday, but the delay pushed things back by three to four hours. Recalling that moment, he said, “When we got engaged, I had this plan to do it at midnight after her birthday. Our flight is delayed, which is putting us back 3–4 hours.”
He said he kept doing the timing in his head while Priyanka could see that he was stressed. Nick recalled, “Now I am doing the time in my head, and she is like ‘What are you stressed about?’” Priyanka said she had no idea what was planned and thought they were simply going on a holiday. She also joked that she was trying to work out if this was just the kind of person he was.
By the time they landed in Greece, Nick said they were already behind schedule. He said he spent dinner looking at the clock and thinking the plan was falling apart. Priyanka said she could tell something was off, but did not realise that a proposal was coming.
Nick said the moment finally came at around 2.30 am, when Priyanka mentioned going to bed. He told her he had one more gift, went back to get the ring and got down on one knee. He later said she did not answer immediately and took around 40 to 50 seconds, while he waited and wondered whether he should put the ring on. Priyanka, however, clarified that he had already put the ring on before she answered.
Birthday in Spain
Before sharing the proposal photograph, Nick had also posted a glimpse of Priyanka’s birthday celebrations on July 18. Priyanka appeared to be spending the day on an intimate holiday in Spain with her husband.
Nick shared a candid video of Priyanka enjoying the sunshine. In the clip, she wore a peach polka-dot cover-up over a white bikini with blue prints. She completed the look with a Dior bandanna, black sunglasses, diamond stud earrings, a delicate choker, a bracelet and a matching ring, and smiled at the camera.
He added a birthday wish in Spanish, “Feliz cumpleaos! Mi amor,” which means, “Happy birthday, my love.”
Other podcast disclosures
On the same podcast, Nick and Priyanka also looked back at the early days of their relationship. Nick revealed the first message he had sent Priyanka on X, then Twitter, about a year and a half before they started dating in May 2018.
His message read, “Hello. I’ve heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people. Are you in LA anytime soon?” Priyanka replied, “Hey. Graham’s told me so much about you. Let’s text. More private. My team can access this.” Priyanka joined Nick, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas on the episode, where Joe and Kevin read out the exchange as the couple reacted.
The couple also said that Nick is ahead of Priyanka when it comes to Bollywood gossip.
Nick and Priyanka married in December 2018 at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. They became parents to their daughter, Malti Marie Chopra Jonas, in 2022.
