Temple visit, live location,'handbag' signal: How Andhra woman, her lover plotted husband's murder

TIRUPATI: A 19-year-old woman and her lover allegedly orchestrated the cold-blooded murder of her husband during a temple visit in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district. What was supposed to be a sacred trip to seek blessings quickly became the backdrop for a meticulously planned ambush for a murder. The victim, 23-year-old Ramesh, was a resident of Tamil Nadu and worked for a private firm in Hosur. He had been married to Hasini for two years, and the couple shared a toddler daughter. While their family life seemed perfectly ordinary to relatives, police investigators revealed that Hasini had maintained a secret relationship with her childhood friend, 20-year-old Yugandhar. Together, the two planned to remove Ramesh from the equation permanently.Under the guise of a spiritual family outing, Hasini convinced Ramesh to take her and their young daughter to the Sri Malleshwara Swamy Temple atop the Mallappa Konda hills. As Ramesh rode his motorcycle up the winding roads, Hasini was secretly sharing their real-time location with Yugandhar over her mobile phone. This precise tracking allowed Yugandhar and his accomplices to stay just ahead of the family. The trap was sprung near the third hairpin bend on the hill road. To force her husband to stop, Hasini reportedly threw her handbag onto the road. When Ramesh pulled over to retrieve it, Yugandhar and his associates emerged from the shadows. Ramesh tried to escape, fleeing nearly 100 meters into the surrounding forest, but his attackers chased him down and hacked him to death with sharp weapons. Horrifically, the murder took place while the couple’s young daughter was left nearby. The crime was uncovered later that night when Hasini’s mother grew anxious about their failure to return and approached the local police. Upon reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage along the temple route, investigators spotted a jarring discrepancy: while Ramesh was seen riding toward the temple with his family, subsequent footage showed Hasini riding away on his motorcycle with two other men, leaving her husband behind.Using technical analysis, mobile phone records, and GPS location tracking, police recovered Ramesh’s body from the forest. Hasini, her lover Yugandhar, and two accomplices were arrested shortly after. Police are now looking into reports from local villagers claiming that Hasini was a minor when she married Ramesh two years ago, which could introduce separate child marriage violations into the ongoing legal proceedings.
