Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Monday claimed it carried out a three-phase missile and drone operation targeting US military bases in Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait, saying it destroyed Patriot air defence systems, fuel tanks and a strategic FPS radar system at two Kuwaiti air bases. The operation, dubbed “eye-for-an-eye”, was launched in response to recent US military strikes on Iran, according to Iranian state-affiliated media and the IRGC. The claims could not be independently verified.According to Iran’s state-affiliated Nour News Agency, the Iranian Army and the IRGC launched “large-scale missile and drone attacks” on what it described as “enemy bases in the region.” Citing an Iranian military official, the report said the operation was launched in response to continuing US strikes on Iran and targeted sites identified after monitoring “enemy movements” over the past 48 hours. The IRGC said the first phase targeted Jordan’s Prince Hassan Airbase with missiles and drones, claiming it had set fire to “several fuel depots and ammunition storage facilities.” It said the US strikes followed an operation by the IRGC Navy to stop two ships in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing them of “switching off their tracking systems, travelling illegally and endangering navigation.”In the second phase, the IRGC claimed its aerospace forces struck Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Airbase, targeting “helicopter maintenance facilities, a hangar housing a P-8 aircraft and a US military drone command-and-control centre.”The third phase focused on Kuwait, where the IRGC claimed it had “completely destroyed” fuel tanks and Patriot air defence systems at Ali Al-Salem Airbase and a “strategic FPS radar system” at Ahmed Al-Jaber Airbase. It said the strikes were carried out by its aerospace forces and that the retaliatory operation was continuing. The IRGC also warned against further US military activity in the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iran “would not allow continued foreign military interference” in the strategic waterway and that the results of ongoing operations would be announced in subsequent statements. The claims came a day after US Central Command (CENTCOM) launched a fresh wave of precision strikes across multiple locations in Iran, targeting military installations to degrade Tehran’s ability to disrupt international maritime trade.According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted Iranian air defence systems, coastal radar infrastructure, missile and drone launch sites and small tactical vessels. The US military said it used fighter aircraft, naval combatants, one-way attack aerial drones and one-way attack sea drones during the strikes.“The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime corridor for global trade. Iran does not control it,” CENTCOM said in a statement. In a post on X, CENTCOM said the operation was ordered by the US President to hold Iranian forces accountable.“At 5 p.m. ET today, U.S. Central Command forces began launching more strikes against Iran to continue degrading their ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The Commander in Chief has directed the strikes to hold Iranian forces accountable,” CENTCOM said.
