PUNE: Praveen Goyal, father of Siya Goyal, on Saturday denied allegations that his daughter made an obscene gesture while in police custody in connection with the Ketan Agarwal murder case.Praveen claimed that Siya had injured her fingers when they were accidentally caught in a car door during a visit to their residence as part of legal formalities. One of her fingers is bandaged, while another is swollen due to the incident, Praveen further said.On Thursday, a video circulating on social media showed Siya Goyal, accused of murdering her fiancé, appearing to show the middle finger after Pune Rural Police took her to her residence in Pune’s Market Yard area as part of the investigation and recovered clothes allegedly worn by her on the day of the crime. In a video statement, Praveen Goyal said the allegation that his daughter showed a middle finger to the media was false.“Siya is being accused of showing the middle finger. It is nothing of that sort. When she had come home with the police for legal formalities, two of her fingers got smashed in a car door, which is why there is a bandage on one finger while the other is swollen. Even her nails have turned blue,” he said. The clarification came after the video went viral on social media, drawing sharp reactions from users online.Meanwhile, Pune Rural Police has moved a court seeking permission to conduct polygraph tests on Goyal and her alleged associate Chaudhary, an official said.Officials also said that clothes allegedly worn by Goyal on June 18, the day of the incident, were recovered during a search of her residence in Pune’s Market Yard area.Goyal (20) and Chaudhary (22) are accused of pushing 25-year-old Agarwal to his death from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18. Agarwal and Goyal were scheduled to marry in November.Following the alleged murder, both Goyal and Chaudhary were arrested and remanded in police custody till July 3.(With agency inputs)
