Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development P. Narayana on Saturday said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu gave his consent to obtain a loan of ₹580 crore from the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF), Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF), or through annuity model, for infrastructure projects proposed for the Godavari Pushkarams-2027.

Citing the prevailing financial constraints, Mr. Narayana said the Chief Minister would announce the financial allocation for the Pushkarams after the works from the loan obtained commence.

Addressing the media here, Mr. Narayana said, “In the first phase, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department is allowed to raise ₹580 crore through various government agencies. In the second phase, the State and Central governments will announce their respective grants for the mega event.”

Mr. Narayana earlier reviewed the projects proposed for the Pushkarams. Rajamahendravaram MP D. Purandeswari, Rajahendravaram Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, East Godavari District Collector Kirthi Chekuri, Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation Commissioner Rahul Meena were present.

During the meeting, Ms. Purandeswari urged Mr. Narayana to impress upon the Chief Minister to fund the infrastructure projects. “Mr. Narayana has elicited the opinions of the people, officials and elected representatives on the proposed infrastructure facilities and funding,” she said, and called for expediting execution of the projects in view of the monsoon.

Mr. Butchaiah Chowdary underlined the need for the Central government to fund major infrastructure projects such as highways. The municipal corporation was directed to finalise the projects to be taken up with ₹580 crore.
