One US service member is missing and three others were injured after a US Navy MH-60S Seahawk helicopter made an emergency landing in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday, the US military said.
The injured personnel are in stable condition. The US Navy’s 5th Fleet said there was no indication that hostile action caused the incident.
“US Navy assets in the region are currently searching for the other aircrewman still missing. The cause of the incident is under investigation,” the fleet said in a statement.
The helicopter was operating from the USS George H.W. Bush aircraft carrier, which is deployed in the region.
The incident comes as US forces remain on heightened alert amid periodic flare-ups despite the ongoing ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.
