The single-window counselling for admission to undergraduate courses in colleges affiliated to Anna University will begin on July 20, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister P. Viswanathan said on Wednesday, after releasing the rank list for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026.

There would be three rounds of counselling for general category students opting for the academic stream, whereas those opting for the vocational stream will have one round of counselling. Candidates will have until July 6 to get their grievances pertaining to the merit list redressed. The rank list and cut-off marks for each round of counselling have been released on the website www.tneaonline.org.

The rank list this years features over 2.36 lakh students out of more than 2.45 lakh candidates who registered for the TNEA 2026 and paid the registration fee. Of them, 1,30,767 are boys, 1,05,245 girls, and five trans persons.

Mr. Viswanathan said that this year, 50,494 students applied under the horizontal reservation category (7.5% reservation for those who studied in government schools from Classes VI to XII), with 46,604 making it to the merit list.

For general category students who come under the special reservation category such as sports quota (3,183 students), differently-abled quota (493), and ex-servicemen quota (1,175), online counselling will be held between July 15 and July 18.

Similarly, for the horizontal reservation category students (499 students under sports quota, 149 under differently abled quota, and 14 under ex-servicemen quota), the online counselling will be held on July 13 and July 14.

In the vocational stream — for which the choice filling will be open between July 20 and July 22 — as many as 2,205 students under the general category and 524 students under the horizontal reservation category will participate.

Choice filling for the first round of academic counselling for general category students will be held between July 20 and July 22, where 37,976 students with cut-off marks between 200 and 171.333 will participate. The deadline to confirm tentative allotment or choose upward mobility is July 25.

Similarly, choice filling for the second round will be between August 3 and August 5, with 93,117 candidates with cut-off marks between 171 and 135.75 taking part. The final round will have 1,02,719 candidates participating, for whom the choice filling will be held between August 17 and August 19.
