Netflix has released the first full trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, offering an adrenaline-fueled look at the long-awaited follow-up to the acclaimed anime that helped reignite interest in Cyberpunk 2077.
Following the announcement that the series will premiere this fall, the new trailer introduces an entirely fresh cast of characters while retaining the neon-soaked violence and frenetic action that made the original a breakout hit.
Set once again in Night City, the 10-episode standalone story follows four new protagonists whose lives become intertwined in a city consumed by spectacle, corruption, and bloodshed. The teaser spotlights Weak “King” Kingsley, a veteran Edgerunner battling cyberpsychosis; D, a revenge-driven Netrunner from the Snake Nation; Talia Yang, a deadly former Corpo with acrobatic combat skills; and Roman Carax, an aspiring journalist documenting the chaos around him through a retro camcorder.
Much of the trailer is framed through Roman’s grainy VHS recordings, giving the footage a distinctive visual style while showcasing brutal firefights, high-speed chases, and graphic cybernetic combat.
According to the official synopsis, the series explores redemption and revenge in a city where violence has become entertainment. As Weak searches for purpose after losing the cybernetic enhancements that once defined him, D uncovers dangerous corporate secrets that could reshape Night City.
The Studio Trigger-produced new season sees Kai Ikarashi step into the director’s chair after previously directing one of the original series’ standout episodes. Returning creative talent includes showrunner and writer Bartosz Sztybor, writer Masahiko Otsuka, and character designer Ichigo Kanno, ensuring continuity with the first season while introducing a completely new story.
Released in 2022, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners became one of Netflix’s biggest anime successes and played a major role in revitalising interest in CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 following the game’s troubled launch.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is set to return to Netflix this fall.
