Belagavi police arrested three persons on the charges of assaulting members of a family and ransacking their house over the alleged elopement of a woman in Bharamyanatti village in Belagavi district of Karnataka.
A team from the Marihal police station arrested Nagaraj Nayak, Ravi Bijagatti, and Eshwar Mucchandi. The trio were angry with Yallappa Nayak, an unmarried young man from the family, for allegedly seducing a married woman and forcing her to leave her husband. The youth and the woman’s husband were colleagues at a local factory.
The accused allegedly entered Yallappa’s family home, and assaulted the residents. The victims told the police that the attackers, who were armed with swords, machetes, sickles and clubs, tried to kill the young man’s family members. They allegedly partially demolished a mud wall, the roof, windows, a TV, and a cupboard. They allegedly pulled out clothes and utensils from the home, and threw them outside. They allegedly stole some ornaments and took 25 sheep tied outside the house.
