Kannada actor and producer Sharmiela Mandre is set to begin a new chapter in her personal life. The actor got engaged to Sudhan Sundaram, co-producer of Tamil hit film Thaai Kizhavi, in an intimate ceremony held in Bengaluru on June 25. The engagement was attended by close family members and friends after receiving the blessings and approval of both families.

The couple announced the news with pictures from the ceremony, where they exchanged rings in a traditional celebration. Dressed in elegant ethnic outfits, Sharmiela and Sudhan marked the occasion in the presence of their loved ones, with congratulatory messages pouring in from fans and members of the film fraternity on social media.

Sharmiela made her acting debut with Saajni in 2007 and has since built a career spanning nearly 35 films across Kannada, Tamil and Telugu cinema. Her filmography includes Krishna, Navagraha, Aake, Gaalipata 2, Powder and The Devil. Apart from acting, she also heads Sharmiela Mandre Productions, through which she has backed content-driven films and expanded her footprint as a producer.

Sudhan Sundaram is one of Tamil cinema’s prominent producers and the founder of Passion Studios. As a producer and screenwriter, he has backed acclaimed films such as Kappal, Seethakaathi, Andhaghaaram, Parking and Maharaja. Parking won the National Award for Best Tamil Feature Film at the 71st National Film Awards, further cementing Passion Studios’ reputation for supporting distinctive storytelling.

Sharmiela and Sudhan are expected to get married later this year, though the couple is yet to announce an official wedding date.
