A still from ‘The One Piece’

Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for The One Piece, offering fans their first look at WIT Studio’s highly anticipated remake of Eiichiro Oda’s iconic manga.

The minute-long teaser revisits the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey, opening with Gol D. Roger’s legendary final speech that sets the Great Pirate Era in motion before showcasing glimpses of the Straw Hat Pirates’ earliest adventures.
Scheduled to premiere in February 2027, The One Piece will consist of seven episodes, each running approximately 42 minutes. The first season will adapt the manga’s opening 50 chapters, covering Luffy’s recruitment of his earliest crewmates and concluding partway through the Baratie Arc, where fans are first introduced to Sanji.
While One Piece already boasts one of the longest-running anime adaptations in history, with more than 1,100 episodes produced by Toei Animation, the remake aims to present Oda’s story with a more streamlined pace and modern animation. The original television series often expanded scenes and introduced anime-original material to avoid catching up with the weekly manga, a necessity that shaped its storytelling over two decades.
The remake is being produced by WIT Studio, whose credits include Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Spy x Family, and Ranking of Kings. Masashi Koizuka, known for directing episodes of Attack on Titan and Moonrise, helms the project, while Taku Kishimoto oversees series composition.

Netflix has continued to expand its investment in the One Piece franchise in recent years through both anime and live-action adaptations. The streaming giant’s live-action series has already been renewed through a third season, while Toei Animation recently shifted the original anime to a seasonal production schedule, reducing its annual episode count.
With creator Eiichiro Oda confirming that the manga has entered its final saga, The One Piece offers newcomers and longtime fans alike an opportunity to experience the beginning of one of anime’s most celebrated adventures through a contemporary lens when it premieres on Netflix in February 2027.
