The new generation, which strictly adheres to the law and embraces environmental protection as a core responsibility, is the true hope of society, Forest Minister Shibu Baby John said on Saturday.
He was speaking after receiving the salute at the passing-out parade of the Student Police Cadet (SPC) unit at Chavara Sankaramangalam Government Higher Secondary School.
The Minister said the uniqueness of the SPC project lies in its ability to mould disciplined, punctual and ideal citizens.
“Plastic will be completely banned in all forest areas across the State as part of efforts to strengthen environmental conservation. The government also plans to revive Social Forestry Clubs in schools,” Mr. John said.
He added that students would be actively involved in all upcoming environmental protection initiatives. During the ceremony, the Minister distributed prizes to cadets who delivered outstanding performances.
Chavara block panchayat president Shamla Noushad, Panmana grama panchayat president Santhosh Thuppassery and district panchayat member Jayalekshmi were among those present.
