A dust storm swept through Gurugram on Tuesday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Delhi-NCR, forecasting rain and strong winds across the region.

The IMD said dust storms followed by thunderstorms accompanied by light rain, lightning and gusty winds of 50-80 kmph were likely across Delhi and several parts of the National Capital Region over the next two hours.
The weather department also issued a similar forecast for parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, including Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Rewari, Palwal, Bagpat, Sikandrabad, Barsana, Alwar and Deeg.
There were predictions that dust storm conditions affecting parts of Gurugram and Delhi would spread to other areas of the National Capital Region (NCR) too.

Orange alert for Delhi-NCR
Several parts of Delhi-NCR are witnessing dust storms accompanied by light rain, as changing weather conditions sweep across the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a nowcast warning for North Delhi, forecasting a moderate thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and wind speeds of 60-80 kmph.
It also issued a warning for South Delhi, South West Delhi and New Delhi, forecasting light rain accompanied by dust storms or severe thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 80-100 kmph.
