Expedite recruitment, ensure transparency, AIDYO urges State govt.

As part of a State-wide agitation, the All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) staged a protest in Kalaburagi on Tuesday urging the State government to expedite recruitment to vacant posts in various departments and ensure transparency in the selection process.

The agitators also submitted a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.

Addressing the protest, AIDYO district president S.H. Jagannath and district secretary K. Eshwar demanded that the State government immediately issue recruitment notifications for the 56,432 posts approved during the Winter Session of the Legislature in December last year.

They noted that despite the approval being granted over six months ago, notifications have been released only for a limited number of vacancies, while repeated assurances from Ministers regarding imminent recruitment have failed to materialise.

The delay has created uncertainty among job aspirants many of whom are approaching the upper age limit for government employment, they added.

The organisation also opposed the recent increase in application fees for police recruitment examinations arguing that the revised fee of ₹750 places an undue burden on unemployed youth.

The organisation demanded that the government waive application fees for recruitment examinations and provide free transportation facilities to candidates appearing for competitive tests.

Expressing concern over reports of irregularities in the recent KAS examination conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), the agitators called for a thorough investigation and sought implementation of the P.C. Hota Committee recommendations to strengthen transparency and accountability in recruitment.

The organisation further urged the State government to take stringent measures to prevent examination malpractices in tests conducted by both KPSC and the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

Highlighting the shortage of teaching staff in government schools, the organisation stated that more than 79,000 teacher posts remain vacant across the State, including over 22,500 vacancies in the Kalyana Karnataka region.

It warned that the continuing shortage is adversely affecting the quality of education and pressed for immediate recruitment to all vacant teacher posts.

AIDYO also demanded that the government publish a comprehensive recruitment calendar, resolve the server and technical issues affecting the ongoing police recruitment application process and extend the application deadline to ensure that all eligible candidates can apply.

The agitators reiterated that timely recruitment and a transparent selection process are essential to addressing unemployment and restoring the confidence of job aspirants in the government’s commitments.
