BLDE Deemed University Pro-Chancellor Y.M. Jayaraj, who flagged off the vehicle, hoped that the farmers will imbibe all skills taught in the short-term course.

He said that this is the first of several joint initiatives planned by BLDE Society with Akshaya Kalpa Foundation and Krishikalpa Foundation.

Prof. Jayaraj said that farmers will get direct demonstration and training of advanced technologies on the premises of Akshaya Kalpa Institute which is a model in scientific and organic dairy farming in the country.

“Minister M.B. Patil, who is the BLDE Society chairman, wants to increase the prosperity levels of farmers on drier districts of North Karnataka through the joint project. It will be expanded and diversified,” he said.

Registrar R.V. Kulkarni said that the farmers will get information about how to make dairy farming profitable through scientific barn management, maintaining cow health, cleanliness and modern technology and how to produce chemical-free and quality milk in organic milk production.

He wished that the farmers of Tiptur area will get a chance to participate in the process to create white revolution in Vijayapura district by adopting the Akshaya Kalpa model.

BLDE Society communications coordinator Mahantesh Biradar said that such training sessions will give a new direction to the dairy sector of Vijayapura district and inspire the youth to take up self-employment in the coming days.

Dairy is among the most neglected sectors of livelihood in North Karnataka. It needs to be promoted through such interventions, he said.

Assistant Registrar Satish Patil, Santosh Biradar of Krishikalpa Foundation and others were present.
