The Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) will digitise all stages of its operations, from land acquisition to industrial plot allotment, within the next 100 days, said M.B. Patil, Large and Medium Industries Minister in Bengaluru on Wednesday (June 10).

The Minister stated that every detail related to plots in both existing and newly developed industrial areas would be brought under the Integrated Land Management System developed by the e-governance department.

77 data fields

According to him, the digital platform would maintain 77 data fields for each industrial plot. The system would also provide instant access to information related to plot allotments, industrial activity, investments, employment generation, compensation paid to farmers, court cases, and so on.

Mr. Patil further said the initiative would ensure transparency and secure long-term preservation of records and reduce the dependence on intermediaries.

He also noted that inadequate record management in the past has led to cases of duplicate compensation payments for the same land parcels. The new system aims to eliminate such discrepancies.

224 industrial areas

Karnataka currently has 224 industrial areas with records relating to plots, which are set to be scanned and digitised. Officials have been directed to complete the scanning of allotment records in older industrial areas within a period of one month. After the digitisation process is completed, the data would be shared with the e-governance department, which would assist in developing customised software for KIADB.

The platform will be integrated with the Rural Development Department’s e-Swathu system, facilitating services such as issuance of e-Khatas and streamlining of related administrative processes.
