TDP legislator from Sarvepalli Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Wednesday said the party’s annual conclave, Mahanadu, would be conducted in a hybrid format on May 27 and 28 at the party’s central office in Mangalagiri.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters, Mr. Reddy said 37 editions of Mahanadu had been conducted since inception of the party. The event was initially planned on a grand scale in Nellore, which would have involved nearly 7,000 buses and thousands of other vehicles transporting workers and leaders.

The party’s decision was in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for conservation of fuel and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s directive to conduct the event in hybrid model, he said.

This would be the first Mahanadu after Nara Lokesh (HRD Minister) assumed charge as party’s national working president.

Mr. Naidu, and national and state committee leaders were expected to participate in the two-day conclave in Mangalagiri. The party had conducted two hybrid Mahanadus during the COVID-19 period, Mr. Reddy recalled.

Referring to the arrangements, he said large screens were being set up at the cluster levels across the State. “Two clusters have been created for each mandal, while larger mandals will have three clusters. Around 300 functionaries, including presidents, secretaries and committee members from each cluster, will gather at designated venues to watch the proceedings live from Mangalagiri,” he said.

Mr. Reddy said 19 resolutions, 13 pertaining to Andhra Pradesh, four on Telangana and one on the Andaman alliance, and another political, would be introduced during the Mahanadu. He said the resolutions had been finalised after detailed discussions by the resolutions committee and approved by the party Polit Bureau.
