The ground-breaking ceremony for the proposed Courtyard by Marriott hotel project was held at Lingayapalem village opposite the APCRDA headquarters in the capital region on Friday (May 8, 2026).

The project, being developed by Southern Globe Hotels and Resorts Private Limited at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore, marks the commencement of construction works for the international-standard hospitality facility. The foundation stone was laid by Ministers Kandula Durgesh (Tourism and Culture) and T.G. Bharath (Industries), Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar, Andhra Pradesh Twenty Point Programme Implementation Chairman Lanka Dinakar, and former Machilipatnam MP Konakalla Narayana.

Speaking on the occasion, Southern Travels Director Krishna Mohan Alapati said the hotel will come up on a two-acre site allotted by the government in 2019. Construction is expected to begin within six months and be completed in about two-and-a-half years, while the hotel is targeted to become fully operational by 2029.
