The Centre is likely to sanction ₹14,000 crore to the Andhra Pradesh government soon, under the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF), for projects related to water supply and sanitation, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana said on Wednesday (May 6, 2026).

Speaking to reporters during his visit to NTR Nagar in Nellore, Mr. Narayana said: “Works worth ₹14,000 crore are under way to ensure the supply of safe drinking water to every household in the State. Another ₹14,000 crore will be sanctioned by the Centre under the UCF.”

The Minister said he had asked the State government to allocate ₹700 crore for the development of Nellore. He said while development was being carried out by seeking funds from the Centre as never before, YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders were spreading false allegations.
