Kurnool civic chief warns of fines, licence cancellation over poor sanitation

Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner Challa Obulesu has expressed dissatisfaction over the maintenance of sanitation in some parts of the city, and over the quality of food served at the Anna Canteen on the district Collectorate office.

Mr. Obulesu inspected sanitation conditions at Kummarigeri, Gadiyaram Hospital, Pedda Market, Joharapuram and Gandhi Nagar on Monday (May 4, 2026) morning. At these places, he found that shops had not kept dust bins, which had been made mandatory, and that the surrounding areas lacked cleanliness. He instructed the sanitary inspection staff to take steps to improve sanitation, ensure that a dust bin is placed at every shop, and see to it that garbage is collected from them without fail. He also asked the staff to ensure that traders use the tractor trolleys to dispose of their garbage.
