From filter coffee to idli, dosa, meals and beyond, eating out in Bengaluru is set to pinch more after the price of a commercial LPG cylinder touched ₹3,152 following a steep ₹993 hike announced by the Union Government on May 1 — an all-time high. Beverages are set to get costlier by about 25% while food items by at least 20% across small and mid-scale eateries, hoteliers said.
This is the third price hike in two months, and the latest increase is higher than the previous two combined. The first hike of ₹115 came on March 7, followed by another ₹202 on April 2. With the latest revision, the total increase has now shot up to ₹1,310 within just 60 days. However, adding to consumer pressure is not the LPG cylinder hike alone.
