UCC bill introduced in Uttarakhand Assembly, rules of marriage and divorce will change!


Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday in the state assembly the much-awaited uniform civil code (UCC) Bill was introduced which proposed to make the old customs related to marriage a punishable offense and to give inheritance rights to children born out of 'live-in' marriage like children born out of wedlock.

The 'Uniform Civil Code, Uttarakhand-2024' bill, introduced on the second day of the special session of the Assembly called to pass the UCC Bill, provides for uniform law on subjects like marriage, divorce, inheritance, property for all citizens irrespective of religion and community. Is proposed. However, the Scheduled Tribes residing in the state have been kept out of its scope. During the introduction of the bill, the ruling party MLAs welcomed it by thumping their tables and also raised slogans of Bharat Mata ki Jai, Vande Mataram and Jai Shri Ram.
