To beat the heat, high-powered air coolers were installed at counting desks for election staff, who were involved in counting of votes all through the day, at Government Regulated Marketing Committee Complex, a counting centre in Tiruvannamalai town on Monday.
District Election Officer (DEO) and Collector K. Tharpagaraj, who mooted the idea, told The Hindu unlike the other counting centres in the district, the 1953-built Government Regulated Marketing Committee Complex had an asbestos-roofed building.
