Acting on directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Chittoor district administration has stepped up the disposal of voter claims and objections as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

District Collector Sumit Kumar said that the district has 15,79,996 electors across seven Assembly constituencies as of the date. At a review meeting with political party representatives at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, the Collector said the exercise aims to ensure a clean and transparent voters’ list by removing duplicate, bogus, and deceased entries. “Awareness programmes for Booth Level Officers are being conducted in phases across 1,776 polling stations,” he said.
