More than 12,000 police personnel will be deployed for election-related work in Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, and Tiruvannamalai districts on polling day, to ensure peaceful polling during election.

Election officials said that the police in these districts have roped in personnel from all wings, including the Armed Reserve, the law and order and the traffic. Also, additional police personnel from neighbouring States like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, CRPF personnel, retired army staff, and policemen will have election-related duties on polling day in these districts. “Adequate wheelchairs will be in the polling booth area for voters with disabilities. Along with them, senior citizens, and expectant mothers can vote directly rather than waiting for their turn in the queue,” V.R. Subbulaxmi, District Election Officer (DEO) and Collector (Vellore), told The Hindu.
