Days after a stormy annual general body meeting of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) that culminated in the resignation of the entire executive committee and the exit of president Shwetha Menon and vice-president Lakshmipriya from the organisation’s primary membership, former joint secretary Ansiba Hassan has fired a fresh salvo through a Facebook post.

Ms. Hassan, whose resignation and public statements against her former colleagues snowballed into the premature resignation of the committee, said she has lodged a petition with the Palarivattom police against her alleged victimisation. She had spoken at length at the recently held AMMA meeting, which placed the incumbent executive committee under a cloud of suspicion.

She alleged that she was initially targeted on account of her community before being branded a ‘Jihadi’ and was cornered with accusations of religious conversion. “Everyone, including a people’s representative, was part of it. At the end of it all, the son of the said representative sent me a message asking me to ‘stay strong,’” Ms. Hassan wrote, without revealing the identity of the person allegedly involved.

“Relaxing in their easy chairs, they subjected me to character assassination, among them a ‘great actor’ and my colleagues. They even targeted me in the name of my stepfather. Now that cruelty is extending to my friends as well. Even the fact that I have four siblings did not stop them from trying to destroy me,” her post read.

She further alleged that conspiracies were being hatched against her by hiring public relations (PR) agencies spending lakhs. “I know they will continue to attack me, keep hunting me. Yet the questions I raised within my organisation continue to remain unanswered. They cannot be silenced forever,” Ms. Hassan wrote in her emotional post.

“I chose to fight despite realising that my life is in danger, knowing that the law of this country is my last resort. I strongly believe justice will be served, and I have formally lodged a police complaint. Truth will eventually prevail. That faith alone helps me wade through this darkness,” the post concluded.
