Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) SPSR Nellore District Branch chairman Vakati Vijaya Kumar Reddy received Red Cross Award from Governor S. Abdul Nazeer, who is also the President of the IRCS Andhra Pradesh Branch, during the World Red Cross Day and World Thalassemia Day celebrations organised at Lok Bhavan in Vijayawada on Thursday (May 7, 2026).
He was recognised for his significant contributions in the fields of reatient outreach programmes, disaster response activities, and various welfare initiatives undertaken for the benefit of vulnerable and needy sections of society across the district during the year 2025–2026.
This year’s celebrations also marked the 107th anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), reaffirming the enduring commitment of the global Red Cross movement towards humanity, compassion, neutrality, voluntary service, and social welfare.
IRCS Nellore District Branch has been actively engaged in several community welfare programmes including blood bank services, cancer care support, health awareness activities, patient assistance initiatives, and other humanitarian programmes benefiting thousands of people across the district.
